Summary: A writer for the boston globe says that gay marraige should be aloud and is not a threat. Gay marraige isnt bad, and doesnt make gay couples bad people. “married gay people are not mastermining terrorist bombings” stated one reporter. The government has bigger thingds to worry about like poverty, drugs, and giving children better education. People say gay marraiges are a bad place to raise children, and that it will make them turn out bad. “The fact is that two women to two men raising a child has nothing to do with the way they turn out, that depends on the quality of there raising.”said another reporter.
commentary: I agree with the writer of this editorial. The way i look at it is that while we are spending so much time worring about who marries who, we could be saving starving children who are being beaten and rapped every single day. that just sends them the message that gay marraige is worth more thatn they are. Is that the message we really wan to send? And for that matter if we think kids are going to be raised bad in a gay marraige situation, then shouldnt we stop druggies and drunks from getting married to. there is no way no matter how hard we try that we are going to stop all of that. so why not focus on the more important things here? Who are we to tell two people in love that they cannot get married? I dont think the covernment should have a place in anyones personal realationships. Is there even such thing as personal choice or privacy anymore?
Evaluation: This author is very respectable. He does his reaserch and writes for the boston globe. The author uses ethos and pathos to get your attention. He uses ethos when stating the quote ” it doesnt make them bad people”, and pathos when saying “Just because there gay doesnt make them terrorists, and that there are starving kids who need help”. So what do you think is more important?
